Abstracts are invited for poster presentations at the 2020 Banff Pork Seminar to be held January 7-9 at the Banff Springs Hotel. Submissions can be made either by researchers (University, government or industry) or by undergraduate or graduate students under their supervision.
Our surveys show that about 60% of Banff Pork Seminar delegates view the research posters, usually during coffee breaks and at lunchtime. Of the 740 delegates who attended BPS in 2019, 25% listed themselves as producers (including all the large production units in western Canada), 15% as extension & research (government & university) and 55% identified as from industry (feed industry, genetics & reproduction, veterinarians, pharmaceuticals, financial services, equipment, etc). Networking with the major players of the Canadian pork industry is one of the main benefits of attendance at the Banff Pork Seminar.
Posters of accepted abstracts will be on display at the Banff Pork Seminar on Wednesday, January 8 and Thursday, January 9, 2020. Poster presenters are expected to be at their posters during breaks to discuss their research with delegates.
Abstract guidelines are attached to this message, and will be available on the Banff Pork Seminar website. Abstracts will be reviewed for scientific content and acceptability. Abstracts may be edited for length, grammar, format and presentation style. If editing is significant, the abstract will be returned to the author for approval.
The deadline for submission is October 31, 2019. Please email abstracts to the Banff Pork Seminar Conference Coordinator at email@example.com with “Abstract for Poster Session” and the applicant’s name in the subject line.
Please remember this is an industry event, not an academic conference. Please adjust your wording and presentation to suit a mixed audience (producers, feed industry, veterinary and pharmaceutical industry, breeding and genetics, extension, researchers, etc).
The BPS registration fee will be waived for undergraduate or graduate students currently attending full time post-secondary programs in Canada. Full-time students attending institutions outside of Canada pay a reduced conference registration fee of $150.00 CAD (+tax). Banff Pork Seminar registration fees are the responsibility of all other presenters. Registration for BPS 2019 will be available on the website mid-September 2018. If you are a student who will qualify to have your conference registration fee waived, please complete the attached Banff Pork Seminar 2020 Student Poster Registration form and email it along with your abstract.
Save money! Register five people from the same institution and receive the sixth registration free! You can find detailed program information and register using the Group Registration form at www.banffpork.ca.
