This past year has seen some significant changes in our industry: Growing consolidation of major players in the United States, the ethanol boom, and unprecedented US swine industry profitability have all changed the outlook of the North American swine industry. At home, the Circovirus challenge, uncertainty in local processing capacity, and the labour challenges associated with the rise of an energy based economy in western Canada have changed the way many of us have approached running our businesses. It is important that we take the opportunity to reflect on some of what is happening in our industry in forums like these. We hope that this year's seminar topics will address some of the major issues happening in our industry today, and will provide insights that will help you in how you manage your business today, and how you will approach it in the future. The Organizing Committee, and notably Ron and Ruth Ball, have done a stellar job in putting this year's Seminar together. We hope that you make the most of your opportunity to learn about important issues and to engage in networking activities with industry peers. Again - Welcome to the 2007 Banff Pork Seminar Sincerely
