Welcome to "30 Years of Knowledge and Leadership".
This year's theme acknowledges the achievements of those who have made Banff Pork Seminar an effective, affordable and enjoyable event for those involved with the pork industry. Banff Pork Seminar 2001 reflects the increasing globalization of the pork industry, drawing on expert speakers from around the world and on delegates from across Canada. Banff is not only a focal point for discussion of important policy issues and the exchange of technical information, but also an important business venue for many of the participants.
Meeting the needs of the rapid increase in delegate numbers in recent years has been an exciting challenge and the Advisory Committee has worked hard to diversify the program offered. If we are succeeding, let us know; if we are failing, please give us your guidance.
We acknowledge the longstanding commitment of our ongoing sponsoring agencies, Alberta Pork, Alberta Agriculture, Food & Rural Development and the University of Alberta. Members of these organizations have formed the core around which successive Advisory Committees have been built. On your behalf, I wish to thank all those who have given such excellent service to the Banff Pork Seminar. Linked with this has been the extraordinary support of our sponsors, who help us to maintain such affordable registration fees for the seminar. Please help us to recognize their support throughout the Seminar.
Our best wishes to this year's delegates for an enjoyable and worthwhile Seminar. We look forward to your participation at Banff Pork Seminar in 2001 and to meeting you in Banff for many years to come.
