RO Ball Young Scientist Award and Travel Expense Award![]() Ruurd Zijlstra (left) presents Miranda Smit and Prajwal Regmi with their first and second place awards. Abstracts will be selected for presentation in the Banff Pork Seminar Graduate Student Award competition. A scientific committee will select abstracts representing the most interesting and best science, from those submitted for publication in the proceedings. These Graduate Students will be invited to give an oral presentation of their work on the morning of Wednesday, January 18. Presentation time is 15 minutes total; 10 minutes for presentation and 5 minutes for questions from the audience. The selection will be made before the Proceedings go to print and the papers chosen for competition in the theatre presentation will be listed in the proceedings. Registration fees are waived for all students who are attending a post-secondary institution full time. Travel expenses will be reimbursed up to $500 for at least 4 students whose abstracts are selected for oral presentation. The Graduate Student with best overall combination of good and relevant science, well-written abstract and excellent presentation will receive a cash prize of $500 and a plaque. Second place prize is $250 and 3rd prize is $150. Details for entering this competition are attached. Judging will be done by a committee of researchers and industry personnel.
